An dem EU-Forschungsprojekt mit dem Namen PanCareLIFE sind Wissenschaftler aus acht europäischen Nationen beteiligt: Dänemark, Deutschland, Frankreich, Irland, Italien, Niederlande, Schweiz, Tschechische Republik. Frau Prof. Dr. med. A. Borgmann ist Mitglied des EU-Konsortiums und leitet die Interventionsstudie zur Patientenaufklärung.
In das Projekt fließen die Daten von insgesamt rund 12.000 Betroffenen aus allen beteiligten Ländern ein. Anhand dieser Daten wollen die beteiligten Forscher genetische wie auch nicht-genetische Risikofaktoren identifizieren, die möglicherweise im Zusammenhang mit Fruchtbarkeitsproblemen und Schwerhörigkeit stehen.
