Impaired gonadal function following chemotherapy and radiotherapy in childhood and adolescence: risks, diagnosis, prophylaxis and treatment options.
This guideline addresses patients who— due to pediatric oncologic disease—will receive or have received surgery or radiation therapy to the hypothalamus, pituitary, or pelvis as well as chemotherapy during childhood or adolescence. In addition to presenting the risk factors for possible hypogonadism or impaired fertility, diagnosis, as well as established and experimental prophylactic and treatmentmeasures are also introduced.
The guideline was developed by the Working Group "Fertility" of the Society for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology (GPOH), in collaboration with other professional societies.
